And I Don't Even Like Coffee...
Today I met with a man named Alex--I can't and won't give his full name--at Star---'s. He ordered expresso as opposed to one of those cafe mocha chocha loca fuka latte's, and I'm glad he did. He also treated me to one, and I don't even like coffee. Un cafecito now and then maybe, but only as one would indulge in truffles, a rare treat. Anyway our meeting which we planned a week ago was to just meet and maybe exchange ideas. Alex and his partner (a person who seems like one with more control), run several voyeuristic porn companies. My friends (and frequent photography subjects) Phoenix and Vixey, gave Alex my number. Alex was looking to hire a photographer/videographer to shoot full-time for their company for the low price of 12.00 per hour. Alex is Argentine, so he knew automatically that you never insult a craftsmen with a paultry offer for their services. Instead being a true caballero (prounounced cah-bah-sherro), he said that he'd like me to shoot his "A-list" models but worried if he could afford me.
Well during our meeting, Alex showed me his websites, offline html versions, as the Star---'s in this town now charges for their weak coffee and their Internet access! What a perfect example of adding insult to injury! The sites well-crafted looked like what you'd expect for amatuer sex sites, and they included everything from straight couples "caught on hidden camera," wham-bam and get out ma'am to gay guys going buckwild...on each other! I was amused, but inside I knew there was no chance of me doing anything with Alex or his partner. Their direction was limited, and that's what happens when what you do focuses on bottom line and less on creativity. In some ways I felt a little sorry for this wealthy, but stuck-in-a-rut young man. Our conversation turned from porn photography to cars, one of Alex's passions. I had a ton of things to complete (and still do as of this latest entry), so we decided to part. He made sure he had my many contact numbers, and I took a short stroll to look at some vacant real estate for lease. Was today a waste? Some might see it that way. I never do. Meeting another quality human can never be a waste of time.
This is starting to sound more like a "dear diary" entry, so I will end today's post by mentioning my last post about those censored billboards in Europe. Thanks to my friend Kyle, I have included the most controversial ones as you see. The first supposedly enraged women, the 2nd supposedly pissed off both the government and women. Believe what you will, but when one cannot use art to protest or criticize politics, then we are living in dangerous times. Don't stop shaking up your own world, and don't give into the hype.
Enjoy what's left of the next 7 years.
Smile more it looks good on you.
